Alcona County ReviewHarrisville, MI8 Jan 1930 James LaFORGE James LAFORGE passed away January 2, 1930. James LAFORGE was born at Mooretown, Ontario, June 3, 1848. Died at his home in Curran January 2, 1930. On October 22, 1872, he married Miss Emily SUGDEN to whom seven children were born, Mrs. Edward COLEBATH of Oscoda, Mi., Mrs. Stephen HAWKINS and Edward of Hubbard Lake, Mrs. Aaron JOHNSON of Superior, Wisconsin, Thomas of Oscoda, Burton and Howard of Curran, all of whom are living. Two brothers, Louis of Bay City, and Alek of Detroit, one Sister Josephine FULKERSON of Sarnia, Ontario also survive him. He has 25 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. LAFORGE came to Mitchell Township from Rose City in 1888. He was among the first to settle this community where he lived the remainder of his life. On July 3, 1894 he united with the Baptist church of which he has been a member. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5 at the Methodist church. Rev. C. X. BROWN being assisted by Rev. A. J. Alcona County Review (?)Harrisville, MI1973 Mrs. Jane LaForge CURRAN - Mrs. Jane LAFORGE, 90, died here Saturday (27 Oct 1973) at the home of a daughter, Wanda, with whom she had lived. The former Jane MATHER, she was born June 2, 1883 in Harrisville and first married William HENSEY, who died in 1942. Later, she married Edward LAFORGE, who died in 1962. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Dorothy HENSY of Harrisville, Mrs. Wanda BUGG of Curran; a son Clyde HENSY of Pontiac; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert MATHER in Montana. The funeral will be at 2'oclock Tuesday at the Curran Baptist Church, with the Rev. William DODWAY officiating. Burial: Curran Cemetery. Mrs. LAFORGE'S body is at the Gilies Funeral Home in Lincoln. Newspaper Unknown1989 NORMA E. LaFORGE OSCODA - - Norma E. (Mrs. Thomas) LaFORGE, 72, of Au Sable died Tuesday (May 23) at Iosco Medical Care Facility. Norma COLBATH was born March 2, 1917, at Au Sable and graduated from Oscoda High School. On Sept. 25, 1936, she married Thomas C. LaFORGE at Christ Episcopal Church, East Tawas. Mrs. LaFORGE was employed for many years at Ray Colbath Fishery. Later, she moved to the Detroit area, where she resided until retiring back to Au Sable in 1973. She was an active member of St. John Episcopal Church and was a former member of the Wurtsmith Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol and the National Air Cadets. Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Patricia SPAW of Wayne; a son, Richard L. of Livonia; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Dorothy COLBATH of Au Sable, Fern LaFORGE of Au Sable, Lelila WELTON of Mikado and Angus CRIST of Au Sable. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Gilbert-Beresh Funeral Home, Oscoda, where the funeral is set for 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. G. John MACDONALD will officiate. Alcona County Review (?)Harrisville, MI Nov 1997 John F. LaROUCH John F. LaROUCH, 75, of Curran, died Tuesday, November 4, 1997 at his home. He was born September 5, 1922 in Ypsilanti, Mich., the son of Rock and Liva (BULLOCK) LaROUCH. The family moved to Curran area when he was a child, he resided there until entering the U.S. Navy in 1943. After returning from World War II, he worked as a plumber out of the Plumbers Union Local 98 in Detroit, Mich. He resided in Warren, Mich. for many years before retiring to the Curran area in 1976. Mr. LaROUCH is survived by one sister, Bertha (Ernie) MURPHY of Lucerne, Calif.; one half-brother Louis (Loraine) ARNOLD of Fairview, Mich.; three step-grandchildren, Ava (Perry) BUDREAU of Lincoln, Brad DeJARLAIS of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Denise (Wayne) LEE of Oscoda, Mich.; five step-great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Jean DeJARLAIS of Harrisville; two sisters-in-law, Cora DeJARLAIS of Curran and Dorothy LaROUCH of Alpena, Mich.; nieces and nephews; as well as dear friends, Jack and Alice WAHLERS of Curran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia, in 1978. Funeral services were held November 8 at the Orr Funeral Home in Mio, Mich. Burial was in Curran Cemetery following services officiated by Pastor David DEE. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Michigan.  
 
Alcona County ReviewHarrisville, MI 9 Jan 1969 Page 1 Mrs. M. Pattee Killed In Head-On Collision A head-on collision on M-72, thirteen miles west of Harrisville took the life of Mrs. Merton PATTEE, of Curran, at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Mrs. PATTEE was a passenger in the car driven by her husband and Mr. and Mrs Gustav MULLER of Barton City were in the other car with Mr. MULLER driving. Gillies Ambulance of Lincoln and Bennett Ambulance of Oscoda were summoned. Mrs. PATTEE was pronounced dead at the scene and the other three people were take to Alpena Hospital. Mr. PATTEE received broken ribs and facial cuts. He was treated and released Saturday. The accident is still under investigation of the Alcona County Sheriff Department.Obituary Mrs. Merton PATTEE was the former Lena WIEDBRAUK, whose parents were Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Eliza FULLERTON) WIEDBRAUK. She was born January 27, 1895 in Curran and had spent her entire life there. In 1914 she married Thomas LaFORGE at Curran, and he died in 1957. She married Merton PATTEE, who survives, in 1958. Mrs. PATTEE was a member of the Curran Baptist Church and the W.C.T.U. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Mrs. James (Mildred) DAYTON of San Jose California; two sons, Thomas LaFORGE of Detroit and William LaFORGE of Harrisville; two brothers, Joseph and Walter WIEDBRAUK of Curran; one sister, Mrs. Louis MACFADDEN of Breedsville, Michigan; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Curran Baptist Church, with Rev. Merlin SKUSE officiating. Interment in the Curran Cemetery.  
 
Newspaper Unknown 1990PATTEE, Lois Manatee Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23 from Sunnyside United Methodist Church in Curran, for Lois M. PATTEE, 73 of Crooked Lake, Curran, who died Saturday, Aug. 18, 1990 at Alpena General Hospital after a long illness. Burial was in the Curran Cemetery following services officiated by Pastor Jim PAGE. Arrangements were made by the Gordon Funeral Home of Mio. Mrs. PATTEE was born Sept. 17, 1917 in Spratt, Mich. She moved to Lachine to live in 1935 where she met and married her husband Lyle PATTEE in 1936. She came to Crooked Lake to live in 1966 from Clio. She was associated with the Sunnyside United Methodist Church in Curran. She is survived by her husband, Lyle, of Curran; seven children, Mrs. John (Onalee) MERRITT, of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Leroy (Sharon) McIINTYRE, of Lapeer, Cheryl McINTYRE, of McKiney, Norman PATTEE, of Fremont, Calif., Donald PATTEE, of Santa Barbara, Calif; Gerald PATTEE, of Lapeer, and Brenda PEDERSON, of Mio; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lelia LINCOLN, of Ypsilanti, and Thelma PROCONIER, of Cass City; two brothers, Waldo KINGSLEY, of East Tawas; and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by two brothers, Harold and Austin KINGSLEY and a granddaughter Doris MERRITT. (Marcia Shears' Notes: Her maiden name was Lois Kingsley.)
